The way it incodes is a lot like a command prompt render que on a Windows machine. I can totally see why that is counter intuitive as it just takes up more processing and resources away from the machine running it. As it is not very flashy and does not try to impress anyone with it’s interface. This program gets the short end of the stick. I'm sure if I had a FAST or MEDIUM setting in Compressor it would have rendered exhibiting excellent quality using lesser time. I like the features in Compressor but the HEVC setting needs more options in terms of choosing the speed of the HEVC encoding. This is not acceptable and should be addressed. I then chose SLOWER and the quality was great but it took over 8 hrs to encode. Using Compressor and the same video I chose FASTER and the video file was much larger and the qualtiy was subpar in comparison to Handbrake. The video was rendered in 1 hr and 32 minutes and excellent quality. Compressor only has 2 which hardly anyone uses, which are: Faster and Slower.Įxample: I created a video using Handbrake and selecting the FAST setting. Most encoders today that encode using HEVC have several choices determining how fast the process will take. I've added 2 more stars due to a more consistant running application, my only issue is with the HEVC encoder (which was my main reason for purchasing this software). After several updates I've noticed a decrease in crashes while encoding. When I first purchased this application I gave it 1 star mostly due to application crashes.
